The design language of these pillows is rooted in the work of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo (1871–1949), whose revolutionary approach to textiles and light shaped Venetian design in the early 20th century. Working alongside his wife and muse, Henriette Negrin, Fortuny established his atelier at Palazzo Orfei in Venice, where he developed innovative fabric printing, velvet treatments, and lighting designs.

The visual richness and technical experimentation pioneered at Palazzo Fortuny continue to influence Venetian workshops today. Venetia Studium’s production draws upon this lineage, translating historic methods and aesthetics into finely crafted contemporary objects.
