ORTIGIA SICILIA

Ultra luxurious , ORTIGIA evokes the essence of Sicily with every product. ORTIGIA is a small company of essences, perfumes and candles and is located in Florence. It was founded in Sicily in 2006 by Sue Townsend who was one of the co-founders of Crabtree and Evelyn. Their luxurious collection of soaps, perfumes, creams, lotions and candles is formulated using natural ingredients indigenous to Sicily. The collection is inspired by the beauty, colours and scents of the most tropical and ancient region of Italy. The products are natural and the ingredients of olive oil, vegetable glycerin and organic colours are entirely paraben free and the products do not contain SLS, nickel or silicone nor are they tested on animals. The packaging, designed by Sue Townsend is as beautiful as the product. It is highly decorative and it is based on exotic images and unique colours found in Sicily. The boxes are handmade using silver foil and the writing is in relief and the bottles are decorated with evocative prints of leopards and palms. The name ORTIGIA comes from the small island located on the southeast coast of Sicily. In the volcanic soil of Etna, there are hundreds of orange and lemon groves. This is the only place that blood oranges grow. There are plantations of almonds,  pistachios, saffron, olives and cacti. The history of the island, reflected in this richness has inspired the birth of the ORTIGIA Collection.
