MID CENTURY MURANO "SOMMERSO" VASE IN CLEAR AND PURPLE BY FLAVIO POLI

A beautiful mid century Murano Sommerso glass vase by Flavio Poli featuring deep purple inner layer, covered in a layer of soft blue and finally clear glass. In the years between 1950 and 1960, Poli designed a series of "sommerso" glass pieces which were awarded prestigious prizes. A number of his works are in the Murano Glass Museum and MoMA in New York. This unique piece was made with the well-known Sommerso technique which was developed in Italy in the 1950s and is very famous today. This glass that is overlaid with a thick layer of colourless glass.
